Interested in joining Swansea Wheelers?
Hi. The club is always on the lookout for new members and will always try to accomodate you on a ride. Here at Swansea Wheelers we encourage potential members to come along and try a few rides and/or club nights to see if the club is right for you.
"It may seem crazy but Winter is actually the best time to join a cycling club, and you just adapt to the weather..."
We are particularly keen to attract new members during the Winter months (November to February) as this is when the standard Club Run is most manageable plus it gives you the best chance of being truly fit for the Summer rides. If you are a little uncertain about what to expect here are three scenarios that may help you:
I regularly cycle 30/40 miles or more
Fantastic. If you are a regular 30/40 miler and comfortable with the pace of a standard club run (approx.18mph) then feel free to come along on any Sunday. We always operate a no-drop policy so there is no danger of you being abandoned in the middle of nowhere. The club meets outside the Plough and Harrow pub, Church Road, Llansamlet, leaving at 9am (April-Sept) and 9.30am (during Winter). [ click here for map ]
I dont know about club cycling but I can ride a steady 20+ miles
Great. This Summer (BST onwards) we will be trying to establish a new and additional 'steady 30' mile ride.
We have a few club members who will drop in and out to support this, but the emails we get suggest there is a real
demand for a ride of this nature and we want to bring all you lovely people together. Interested? Well dont just
wait for someone else to organise it all, get in at the start of something good!
Why not download our Introductory Ride fact sheet on the right, it is now out of date but will still give you an
idea of what to bring etc and then drop us a line. Please contact Phil John (contact on left).
I was hoping for something a bit easier?
Never mind. We may not be the club for you just yet, but you could try the Cyclists Touring Club who are an excellent organisation and help novice riders get into cycling with advice and more leisurely rides. Contact the Swansea CTC via our link on the right, or via www.ctc.org.uk.
NB: You may also have seen us at
SwanseaWheelers.co.uk
where there will still be some information about the club. However, most of the information you require should now
be on this current site, and the contacts will be up to date here.
Remember, we are currently looking for new members so if you are interested, then get in touch!.
